WHAT IS MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is in all of us. We all have the ability to be mindful, but like a muscle it needs training and practice. We don’t need any outside aides just what we have within us.
Mindfulness is something that can improve our wellbeing, our mental health and also help towards better physical health. It is a way of connecting to the present moment and accepting what is happening at that moment with openness and no judgement. To be mindful we use all our senses, what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste. We become aware of what is happening in our bodies and in the environment around us.
As we go through life there are a million and one distractions, taking us away from the present. Thoughts of the past or of the future. Daydreams and lists of things we have to do each day. Through mindfulness we can come back to ourselves, back to our bodies and what is happening right here, right now. Whilst bringing a feeling of warmth, compassion and kindness to ourselves.
